At Rokhu, every felt product tells its own story. Handcrafted in Nepal from 100% natural sheep's wool, our products stand for tradition, sustainability, and genuine craftsmanship. Whether it's a cat cave, slippers, dryer balls, or home accessories – with proper care, they will last you a long time.
Here you can learn how to best care for your felt products.
🐑 Why wool felt is special
Our felt products are created by felting sheep's wool with water, heat, and handwork. This results in a material that:
- Is dirt-repellent
- Hardly absorbs odors
- Is particularly durable and robust
That's why felt products only need to be washed rarely – good for you and the environment.
🧼 Daily care
Regular care is very simple:
- Shake out dust and dirt
- Air regularly
- Clean with a soft brush or gently with a vacuum cleaner (especially for pet products)
💡 Often, fresh air is completely sufficient to refresh wool.
💧 Gently remove stains
For small stains:
1. Dampen a clean cloth with lukewarm water
2. Gently dab the spot (do not rub)
3. If necessary, use a mild wool detergent
4. Let air dry
This way you avoid unnecessary washing.
🛁 Thorough cleaning (only when necessary)
If more intensive cleaning is needed:
- Wash by hand in lukewarm water
- Use wool detergent
- Gently press – do not wring or rub
- Rinse thoroughly
⚠️ Do not use a washing machine or hot water – this can shrink or deform the felt.
🌬️ Drying & maintaining shape
After washing:
- Gently squeeze out excess water with a towel
- Reshape while the product is still damp
- Let air dry flat
For cat caves or similar products, you can place a towel inside to stabilize the shape.
❌ Do not tumble dry or place on radiators.
🧴 Caring for shape and surface
Over time, felt can become a little softer or slightly change its shape:
- Simply reshape when damp
- Light steam can help relax the fibers
- Do not pull hard on the fibers
🐛 Protection against moths
Since wool is a natural product, it can attract moths:
- Store clean and dry
- Use lavender or cedarwood as natural protection
- Prefer breathable storage over plastic
🌱 Sustainable & durable
